Putting the Adventure into Racing!

Thank goodness for 29 days in February otherwise this would not be a February newsletter... 2012 is definitely here and we are picking up pace with events across the country. Read on to find out more.

Haglöfs Open5 Adventure Race Series

This weekend is the 6th event of the series, a new venue with the North Downs playing host to the Adventure Racers this Sunday. You can enter online till Thursday night or enter on the Day for an extra £7. Come along and see how many points you can find in five hours.

The last event is in the Peak District on 1st April, few wobbly moments with venues (a landowner had second thoughts about the parking) but we should have something sorted in the next two weeks. The event will still be in Dovedale in the Peaks, but the original venue for registration is set to change. Karen McDonald has been doing her magic in her back garden; expect a tremendous finale to the series.

Whilst the series titles have been sewn up in a few categories, there is still much to play for - and if your objective is a top 10 in the series then with 2 events to go you can still expect to see some changes in the tables.

Haglöfs Open5 Adventure Race Series

Open 2 Day... 28/29th April

We are bringing back a format that defined Adventure Racing in the UK, it's a 2 day stage race - mixing up Mountain Biking / Running and Kayaking along with Tea / Cake and fruit crumble. This weekend is pulling in the winners from the Haglöfs Open5 Series, CCAR series and the Tri-Adventure series so its sure to be a competitive weekend out. South Lakes is the vague venue - we will be a little more specific this weekend at the North Downs event. Paul Noble and Tom Gibbs are the thinking heads behind this one.

UK Adventure Racing

A great new website has popped up on the UK scene with forums and calenders as well as details on a new UK Championships and Ranking. Take a browse around and register your intentions to race on the website.

What is Adventure Racing?

The debate is raging about what is Adventure Racing - perhaps it's from my experience of working in war zones as an aid worker that I learnt it better not to have an opinion. But, what does spell out what Adventure Racing is, are these videos that have come out of the AR World Series. You can't knock these guys and their story.

Coast to Coast in a Day

This is a little project that we kicked in to play this year - a road cycling Sportive which is well in the realms of any stubborn rider. Prices go up tomorrow, but fear not we think we can squeeze you in. If skinny tyres float your boat then this event is one you must put on the calander.
