You can put those wellies in the loft - summer's here (OK maybe that is a little optimistic) and with that comes the planetFear Endurance Series - to find out what's going on with the people that really do Adventure Racing read on...

Mountain Hardwear series finale
Wow that was a bit of a shocker - John Houlihan cleared the course with a blinder of a day - securing his win in the male solos. Two weeks later he sent us an email saying he was still buzzing. It was a great series and we put together a little report on it here.
John penned his thoughts on his day in Wales here and David Lawrence also put his insight on the event to paper here.
We will be back with Mountain Hardwear in November. We are already pulling together locations / permissions and yet again it promises to be another winter of discontent as the battle for the series starts again.

planetFear Endurance Series
Wow it's nearly here - The sun is shining which means it must be time for the Endurance Series. Entries are coming in and with a few raised eyebrows at the competition in the classes. Expect some fun and real surprises as we show you a summer of adventure doing things neither you nor US thought we would ever do.
We kick off with the Open5 around Coniston - it's been great working with the National Trust as we have kicked around the pros and cons of events the result is something which is pretty exclusive to Open Adventure. Find yourself a partner and get signed up.
On that note a significant date for those with the northern gene is Wednesday 12th May . Prices for the open12 will go up and as entries for the 5+ close on this day (unless full by then) this will be the last date for a series discount.
One last thing on the Endurance Series - we need your help. If you want a good day out we need a few more willing volunteers to help out at these events... the most pressing being the Open5+ please get in touch and wing us an email.

3 star courses from Windermere Canoe Kayak
Not only can you get your 2 star for the Open24 and TERREX events but Windermere Canoe and Kayak are now on the case with 3 star training and assessments for elite boat certification. Give them a shout if you are on a mission to sort out your paddling.
Boat hire
The A team (that's the guys from WCK) are doing the modifications to our fleet of necky's - I've asked them to leave off the water canon but to make sure all the rudders are working. They should be ready for hire at the end of this week.
Get in touch if you want to use one for training. £150 to hire from now till mid July per boat.
NB only 3 left for hire on Open24 and 14 left for TERREX.

Podcasts
I spend a large amount of time out on the bike or on the hill putting out controls for you guys to find. My solace is listening to my ipod - I stumbled across a great podcast from the States which somehow conveys the awe of a medic working on a 100km endurance run. Great story.
NB you don't need an ipod you can listen to the story on this website.

Have a good day and hope to see you soon.
No worries
James Thurlow
PS entries won't close on 1st June for TERREX event but the price will go up by 10%.
