Well our feet are barely touching the ground at the mo, as we are still riding the high of the first Coast to Coast Adventure Race in August. We are now busy putting the Mountain Hardwear Open5 series together.
Read on if you want to go to the places where we want to be... Happy days.

Coast to Coast
I don't think anyone could have predicted what an amazing event this would prove to be, with a few competitors already citing this as the best event of the year. It was a hard fought event with the top placing not in the bag until the final five minutes with Liam Drew from New Zealand only just getting in 6 minutes ahead of Bruce Duncan. Stories of this adventure abound on the internet, check out the race reports on Sleepmonsters and on our facebook page.
Rob Howard and James Kirby were there snapping away recording the event you can check out their work on the Sleepmonsters website here.

Needless to say we are being pestered from across the world (yes emails are coming in from NZ with more of those Kiwis wanting to pick a fight with British Adventure Racers) as to when we will run this event again. Well it would be rude not to run it again but you will have to wait a little for this special occasion as the C2C adventure race will return on the August Bank Holiday in 2011.
Big Thanks to Timex, Sea to Summit, Bridgedale, Adventure Medical Kits, Nuun and Mountain Hardwear for providing the prizes. Special thanks to James Kirby and Anquet for helping out with the Maps, and Windermere Canoe and Kayak with paddling support.

Mountain Hardwear Open5 Series
Best get your diary's out as the Open5 series is about to be here, and these events get a real breadth of competitors with walking boots and shopping baskets on bikes to racing snakes wearing the latest compression clothing. Whatever your flavour we are pretty sure you will find a place at these events across the country.
Mountain Hardwear are providing the prizes with kit and vouchers to make all the winners walk away with a grin..

Something Special
Yep for the astute of you who noticed Rob's C2C report on Sleepmonsters, we are cooking a new event for 2010 (over the August Bank Hol weekend). We hope to have more details on the next newsletter but for now think carefully if you are planning holidays that far ahead.

And Finally
We like to point readers of our scribe in the right direction when it comes to experiencing the outdoors. We have been listening to a few Podcasts and one that caught our eye is The Outdoors Station, for the uninitiated a Podcast is like listening to the talky bits on the radio, you can listen to these on your computer / IPod or MP3 player. The Outdoors Station needless to say is fanatical about all things outdoor - some of the podcasts are to say the least a little odd, but there are also great interviews and gear testing with the emphasis on lightweight. Worth a look..
OK best we get outside and do some running, you will find myself pairing up with Judith and Ian Hughes at the London Rat Race, so if you see the tandem give us a wave..
No worries
James Thurlow

Finally
We will be back next month with news on the 09/10 Mountain Hardwear Open5 series, as ever expect some new locations to explore.
