What an amazing summer is ahead of us! But before we get carried away you dont want to miss the final Open5 of the series in the Peak District. Read on to hear of our tales and to see how you can be part of them.

Mountain Hardwear Open5 Series
The Peak DIstrict hosts the final Open5 of the current series on the 5th April, an area we took a nosey at for last years Open12. It promises to be one of the largest fields of competitors, all vying for prizes from Mountain Hardwear. The series table has seen some jostling at the top - so its not all a done deal.

For those who have taken on all of the open5 events this series, a table has been put together for all competitors regardless of which class. Top male / female competitors will each recieve £500 worth of kit from Mountain Hardwear. If you have done all 4 events so far click on the images below, to see where you are.
New Balance Endurance Series
We kick off the endurance series with the Open5+ part of the Keswick Mountain Festival. We have had no shortage of special stages to select from in the area - so you can be sure we will be back again in years to come for an open12 or 24. Expect a real buzz as we bring the adrenaline of our longer events to the Open5+.
16th May - Keswick www.openadventure.com/open5/20_Lakes.htm
Well well.. if only I could say more (with a big smile). The man behind this event has seen a fair share of adventure races and is keen to bring some of his experience to the 12. Lets just say you won't be short changed! Just in case you thought 'Out West' was in mid Wales, its a little more accessable than that. Travel times by road to registration - Manchester 1 hour, Birmingham 1.5 hours, Tebay 2 hours.
27/28th June - Out West www.openadventure.com/open12
Will keep this brief but suffice to say we are pretty sure we won't disappoint. Expect a wild event, visiting locations that are truely remarkable and will leave you with memories for the rest of your life!
In terms of location.. its not in Scotland, but it is north of Birmingham.
25/26th July - Up North www.openadventure.com/open24
Coast to Coast
Blimey we have been busy - the route is 95% nailed. We plan to publish it well in advance of the event - so no secrets here! Many questions flying in to Open Adventure about kayaks and the specification for the event. Expect an update on April 1st by which time details will have been finalised with our water safety advisors Windermere Canoe and Kayak (who as it happens can help with skills courses and kit!).

And Finally
Its been a pretty special couple of weeks at Open Adventure towers, in the midst of planning the New Balance Endurance Series and the Coast to Coast, Mrs Open Adventure gave birth to Amy and Thomas on the 9th March - a mixed pair to be reckoned with in years to come.
No worries
James Thurlow (now a proud dad)
PS There are a couple of great race reports from Malham on Sleepmonsters here.
Trivia - In to its 5th year the Open24 is established in the UK calender as one of the best UK racers. Over the last 4 years only one person has won the event twice? Who be that and how did they do it? Intrigued click here for the answer.
