Scoring
With exception of the Trail Run on Sunday the other 4 stages are in a score orienteering style. That is you have X amount of time to visit as many points as you can, if you are late back you loose points. Each point of the map is worth a different value and some are worth nothing at all. You only find out these values just before the start of each stage.
Stages 1 - 4
- 500 points on offer
- Time bonus - 1 point per min if you have cleared the stage and come back early
- Penalty Points
- 2 points per min for first 5 mins
- 5 points per min for >5 and < 10 mins late
- 10 points per min for >10 mins late
Stage 5 – Trail run
- Standard Run – Fastest time gets 500 points
- 5 points per min off for each minute (or part of) that you are behind the fastest time.
- Short Run – Fastest Time gets 200 points.
- 5 points per min off for each minute (or part of) that you are behind the fastest time.
- You should be doing the short run if you are going to be an hour slower than the fastest time on the standard run. (we will let you know what we think this time will be at the briefing on Sunday)
