Training

At Open Adventure we think training is the key if you want to improve or gain confidence to take on our events. Over the years we have been fortunate to work with a number of providers and regularly recommend them to competitors. So to take your experience a step further check out these guys.

NAV + art Adventure Race Training

NAV4

Joe Faulkner is the man behind NAV4 an Open Adventure regular and serial adventure racer. He is helped out by John Allen one of our top competitors and near the top of the Open5 league table.

If you are looking to improve your navigation then take a weekend out with these guys. The course is largely based around foot navigation, however as any seasoned competitor will tell you the lessons are easily transferable to the bike.

Cyclewise Training

Cyclewise

These guys spend their lives imparting MTB skills on instructors across the UK as tutors for the Scottish Mountain Bike Leader qualification. They also dabble in Polaris', the mountain bike navigation challenge.

A skills course for Adventure Racers is planned for November 2008.

Windermere Canoe and Kayak

Windermere Canoe and Kayak

You can't really get much closer to the shore line of Windermere than these guys. Apart from working with Open Adventure on the safety cover for events, they are also running 2 star UKCC qualifications for the Open24 adventure race.

If taking on a qualification is a step to far but you want a little help in figuring which end of a boat is which - why not hire a boat for 1/2 a day along with an instructor for an hour. You will be surprised how much difference a little bit of coaching will make to your technique. www.windermerecanoekayak.co.uk

Open Adventure Training

Open Adventure

Yep we have also run training courses for sponsors, outdoor shops, aspiring adventure racing teams, as well as helping out racers with how to make the next step.

The man behind Open Adventure is James Thurlow a qualified mountain bike guide, mountain leader and accomplished adventure racer. Please feel free to contact us if you want help with training and I'm sure we can put something together for you and your friends.
