Mountain Hardwear was founded in 1993 by a group of US climbers and outdoor types. The ethos was to produce innovative gear to enable active outdoor enthusiasts to achieve their goals. This started with gear suitable for 8000metre peak climbing to back country skiing, where the survival is paramount and decent kit is a necessity, Mountain Hardwear quickly got a reputation for making quality and durable outdoor products.

Over the years it became apparent that a lot of the customers buying mountaineering kit also participated in aerobic sports in the mountains, such as Mountain Biking, Trail Running and Paddling sports. Adventure racing is an extension of this, incorporating these activities in a mountain environment.

Mountain Hardwear already produce products for the sport and were pioneers of Gore's Next to Skin (N2S) range, working closely with Gore to launch this product. For the year to come there will be a greater focus on this Mountain Performance category, therefore we are pleased to be associated with Open Adventure and Adventure Racing in the UK.
