Grizedale, Lake District :: 3rd April
Intro :: Details: Weather, etc :: Event Updates :: Make a weekend of it..
|
The village of Grizedale can be found nestling in the Grizedale forest on the road between Hawkshead and Satterthwaite and sandwiched between the lakes of Coniston and Windermere in the Lake District National Park. This area has featured in many an adventure race due to it's stunning location and anyone who was at the Hawkshead Open5 last year will recall some excellent mounttin biking in the northern part of the forest. Anthony Cooper returns for his second Open5 as planner for this event. Anthony has been at pretty much every Open Adventure race since the start, so he knows a thing or two about what is required to put on an excellent Open5.

[28/03] Last few updates before the event...
Conditions - Spring is definitely here now and things are warming up nicely in the Lakes. The team have been out and about making preparations for the final event in the series and currently conditions are good. Lets hope it stays that way for the weekend.
Parking - We will be using a field close to registration for parking. Please follow the directions from event staff on arrival at Grizedale. We have an alternate plan if the weather turns nasty!
Take care - There will be lots of tourists around enjoying the forests so please take care when you are out and about.
Series finale - It's going to be a cracking finale to the series and we hope you can stick around afterwards for the event and series prize giving.
See you all on Sunday!
[17/03] We've added some information on 'How your scores are calculated' - well worth a read.
[10/03] When you are packing your gear for the final event in the series you may wish to throw in a few jam butties too. Teas and coffees will be available in the Yan before the event, but no food in the morning. A simple selection of food and cakes will be served from the Yan after the event.
[13/01] You will notice when you get your race packs at registration that for this event that we have included a leaflet and car sticker from the National Blood Service. Please take a moment to read the leaflet and display the car sticker if you can. Healthy people who take part in our events make ideal blood donors and displaying the car sticker will help to raise awareness to others of the need for more blood donors.
More information coming soon.
