[10/05 update]

Update as promised, the event is promising to be pretty special with some of the most technical MTBing on an Open5 as well as views on the running (as long as the weather plays ball) that will no doubt stop you in your tracks however competitive you are.

We often get asked which type of shoes to wear, tricky one for this event as its a mixture of small lanes, tracks and steep fell. This coupled with unpredictable weather, I suggest you pack them all in the car - look at the map and decide for yourself.

Technical MTBing - as mentioned above there is some spectacular riding on this event, and not all of it is down suicidal steep descents. However we would just like to sow a thought, if on the event you are not so confident in the steep descents get off and walk - we are pretty sure that you make it down just as fast. Also please be mindful of other riders and move out of the way if they are moving faster than you.

Parking - originally we were hoping to use the school playing fields but this is now not likely due to some of the wet weather and a rather protective caretaker. As such we will be using a plethora of school car parks and minor lanes around the school. It would be helpful if you could share lifts to this event or if you are local consider cycling.

Registration will open at 8.00am as mentioned below to enable people to make it to the start in good time. We are in short supply of event support staff so if you are injured or you have someone coming with you please contact us (need to be available from 8.00am).

Finally it's lambing in the Lake District, which means there are a lot of twitchy farmers around. As per our usual advice we would ask competitors close gates even if there is somebody behind you, the little lambs can move pretty fast and are itching to get out on to the road.

Look forward to seeing you Sunday.

[08/05 update]

Will post an update with competitor list on Thursday, however it is worth noting that for this event you will have to cycle to the start, it's a good half hour ride from registration. Due to this added time on the day, we will endevour to open registration at 8.00am.

We operate a system where competitors from the same class can not start on the same discipline at the same time, competitors arriving late to the event sometimes have to queue at the start to accomodate this - the finish WILL close at 3.45pm, to avoid anx please arrive early at the start.

Prize giving if things go well will be complemented with a warm free cup of tea / coffee at 4.30pm.
