Sutton Bank, North York Moors
11th March, 2007
Sutton Bank - the first event for Open Adventure in North York Moors and probably the first adventure race to be run in the region. This corner of the country has some real gems and we are having some great fun checking it out.
Registration is at the Sutton Bank visitors centre with parking right next door click here for a map of the local area. The start / transition will also be near the visitor centre so no need to lug that 40Kg kit box on your bike for 10km. Check back here near the day for up to date information on this event.

[07/03 update]
Having just spent a couple of days in the area I can assure you of some pretty spectacular scenery (as well as a few hills!) What is noticeable is that after a good dose of rain the bridleways and footpaths do get very muddy - lets hope for a frost and a clear day.
It's unfortunate but due to some mis-communication the toilets at the visitors centre are going to be out of action this weekend for refurbishment. We are hiring in a few portaloos, but if you have the forsight (and the need) it might be worth using the public toilets in Thirsk or Helmsley depending on which direction you are coming from prior to arrival.
We will post an entry list tomorrow, some tough competition turning up as well as new competitors from this side of the country.
Check back nearer the weekend for updates.
[09/03 update]
Entry list has been updated, so please check we have your details in order. Remember Accelerate are coming along with the shop so if you need any last minute items give them a shout. Otherwise nothing more to add, look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
No worries
Open Adventure...
Race numbers
We will be issuing race numbers again for this event, pasted below is the information issued at the Hebden Bridge event. We did have a good number of competitors pinning running numbers to rucksacks and under water proofs. The running numbers do have to be visible from the front or you will not be able to start the run stage. If you don't want to pin the number to a waterproof you can attach it to your leggings, a rucksac belt or the Accelerate shop will be selling number belts (as used in triathlons) at the event.
[Race Numbers]
For 2007 we also have race numbers for competitors, which will be given out at registration. The paper numbers are for the run and they need to be affixed to your front using the safety pins supplied. If the weather is bad and you are reluctant to affix them to waterproof jackets etc. please attach them to the waist belt of a rucksack or bum bag - they should be visible from the front. These numbers do not have to be returned after the event.

[Open5 run number]
The MTB numbers need to be attached to your bike using the supplied zip ties, we will have a bike on show at registration so you can see how this is done. After you finish the race the MTB numbers need to be returned to event staff before leaving the transition.

[Open5 MTB number - to be returned after event]
For your information series leaders will have their surname printed and have a yellow background to their event number.
