2015/16 is the tenth series of Open5 Adventure Races. Mountain Biking, Running, Navigation and ADVENTURE!
The 2015/16 series has finished, the 16/17 series will be announced this summer. Pen in the 1st Sunday of Dec, Feb, March and April
Each Open5 event has five entry categories; 2 solo categories (Male and Female) and 3 pairs categories (Male, Female and Mixed).
Register at the event centre any time from 8.00 to 9.30 where you will collect a map preprinted with the location of the controls. If you have entered as a pair you must register together.
Solos start between 9.00 and 9.30 and pairs start between 9.00 and 10.00, electing to run or cycle first. At the start you will be given a list of control descriptions each assigned a value. After 5hrs penalties will be incurred.
We only know that for sure once you have returned to registration and downloaded your timing chip. Please do this before 3.30pm - if you don't we will most likely delay prize giving and task volunteers to start looking for you. Ideally please do so before heading to your car.
You can find the few rules we have and a kit list for the event here.
The cost of the event is £35 per person, Entries on the day are accepted for an extra £7. Pre-entries will close at midnight on the Thursday before the event.
For those up for a bargain, if you enter 3 or more events at the same time you will only pay:
3 events - £32 per event
4 events - £31 per event
5 + events - £30 per event
You will have 5 hours to visit as many points (controls) as you can. Some can only be collected by mountain bike others by foot.
The event will use the SPORTident system of scoring. SI Cards are available to rent at £2.50 per person or can be purchased on-line from SPORTident.
Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category at each event and at the final event for the series.
