Open12 Adventure Race
The 2008 event has been and gone, you can check the results, reports and photos out here. Check back in September for details of the 2009 event.
The second year of the Open12. The first in the Dales left competitors in no doubt what adventure racing is about. Just sign on the dotted line.
The Open12 at its core will include mountain biking and trekking (running) but will be peppered with Open Adventure's 'trouser fillers' and special stages. This is a great way for those new to Adventure Racing to cut their teeth on some real adventure.

This event is for male, female and mixed pairs and will cost £100 each. The event will not require a support crew. The event is part of the endurance series, competitors who enter the series will be entitled to further discount on the entry fee. Check out the endurance series for further details. This event uses Sportident for event timing, due to the length of the event and the number of controls visited we use the SI-6 timing cards. If you require to hire one the cost is £2.50 per person (the online entry system will check to see if you have an SI-6 card registed in your profile). |

28 / 29th June - Peak District

[25/6] FAQ updated and if you are after a good weather forecast check the MWIS service (updated on Thursday, Friday and Saturday) - click here
[25/6] Control Descriptions and waypoint file now online - note red dashed line on Hayfield map is just a local walk not anything to do with event. Start list also posted.
Finally if you downloaded the Anquet maps between Monday and Tuesday morning can you pop us an email with your registered Anquet email address. The download during this time did not include a rather crucial part of the map - the FINISH.
[23/6] OK we have just added some swim goggles to the kit list, one per pair should suffice - don't expect anything else to be added. There is also a blip on the Anquet maps being available online we hope this should be sorted this evening or tomorrow morning.
FAQ just been updated.
If you have entered the Open24, please note you can bring copies of your paddling certs to registration to get signed off to use Necky or 'own boats'. Open24 entry list has been adjusted to indicate whose certs we have seen. Click here. Better to do it this weekend than to forget it at the Open24.
[14/6] Registration for this years Open12 is Hayfield which is between Glossop and Chapel-en-le-Frith. Registration will be in the primary school and parking will be on the old school field (will be signposted from the main road on the day).
You can either buy the OL1 Dark Peak Explorer 1:25000 map or use the Anquet mapping which will be availble to download in the week before the event. If you want a paper version of the 1:50000 map then the map of choice is 110 Sheffield and Huddersfield you will however still need the 1:25000 as some features for the running are not on the 1:50000 maps.
[28/5] The event details have been posted above which include timings for the day and the minimum distances for those looking to take it easy. Also posted is a final kit list - not much to buy for this one, we like to keep it simple.
[09/4] There is a new link up on the right which will take you to the current entry list - this is updated as and when people enter. We have also refined the kit list, its still provisional as we have yet to secure permission for some of the special stages we hope to include in the Open12. Don't worry we have a few other crazy ideas if these don't come off.
