March Open Adventure Newsletter

Let Open Adventure put a Spring in your step with some fantastic upcoming events!

Spring has definitely sprung, so it's time to kiss goodbye to that slow soggy trudging and get some speed in your legs. Why not enter the last in the Haglöfs Open5 series for some gorgeous, fast, sunny racing in the Lakes, or perhaps the SILVA10 trail race the night before. Or both? Why not...

Three events left in the Haglöfs Open5 series

Haglöfs Open5 series results so far

It's tough at the top, and the Haglöfs Open5 series has seen some fantastic battles. Will it be Ant Emmet or Olympic silver canoe medalist Campbell Walsh to take the male solo win? Scour the results so far. The categories are far from sewn up, however - why not turn up for the last in the series at Coniston and see if you can upset the apple cart?

Series finales at Coniston

The Open Adventure stomping ground of Coniston plays host to the final races in the SILVA10 night time trail race series and the Haglöfs Open5 series. Come along on April 5th and 6th and make this finale truly grand. The routes will be fantastic as they're being planned by local and highly experienced competitor Ant Cooper. Race the trail 10k on the Saturday night and/or the Open5 adventure race on the Sunday. What a top weekend!

ITERA Expedition Race

No April Fool - ITERA prices go up on 1st April

Most team entries are now in for the World Series Expedition Race we are holding in Wales in August this year. But if you're still pondering and procrastinating, its time to jump off that fence and get your entry in, because prices will go up on 1st April.

And finally...

For those of us who love a good bit of armchair AR, we hope you've been following the New Zealand GODZone expedition race. Stu Lynch (current AR World Champion), who recently returned home after a long stint of UK racing, raced with Team Seagate and took the win. Our own Sabrina Verjee, raced with Team Moxie Racers. The team retired when one of their members broke an ankle. Sabrina joined Merrell Alpha Pack (with UK racer Tobias Mews) and finished the race in 5 days 20 hours. Let the spirit of adventure live on!

No worries, James Thurlow.

P.S. Our friends at Trailplus are helping to put on a Womens 10km Running Series this year with events all over the country. There is an opportunity for some paid marshal work on the day of the events. If you are interested in this please contact Paul Magner via email info@trailplus.com
