Hello Racers

Well we hope you are enjoying the snow as much as us - it seems the rest of this country is on a downer and the world is about to stop spinning. Yet every racer I chat to has tales of fun to tell - so if you hear any gloom tell em to wind their neck in and get out for a breath of fresh air.

Mountain Hardwear Open5 checks out Bronte Country

Open5 SeriesYep the next Open5 is in Bronte country - despite an operation on her shoulder Emma has been out in all weathers checking out pretty much every track in every direction to put together a stunning Open5. As ever it's great to visit new places and I'm sure this will be an eye opener for all. We have unfortunately had some limitations placed on numbers which may mean we have to close entries early and not allow entries on the day - it's definitely not one to leave to the last minute.

You can find out more about the Mountain Hardwear Open5 series here.

Endurance Series

Endurance Series Well its back again with some unfinished business for many competitors - we have some great locations in store this year and a real chance to explore this great country. The earlier you sign up for these events, the more bargains will come your way, such as discounts on the Open12 and Open24 if you enter before March 1st.

More details on the endurace series here.

Anquet Offer

I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to discounts, it seems today you can wave a Kellogg's packet in an outdoor shop and you can get 10% off. So I must admit I was a little gob smacked by this latest offer from Anquet - they are selling their 1:50000 mapping with 50% off. Click on this link to check it out.

Tri Adventure

Tri Adventure Some friends of ours down south are putting a new series of events together - so if you are south of Brum or fancy a tan give one of these events a look. You will see us there as we are helping out with some of the kit to run the event and with the website.

21st Feb, 21st Mar and 18th April - http://www.triadventure.co.uk/

AR Awards

It's our own little Oscars - yep it's the Adventure Racing Ball on the weekend of the 15/16th (details here) the who's who of AR will be there. Importantly the AR awards will be presented and your opinion counts - if you get five minutes take time to put your nominations on this form (NB not all questions have to be answered).

Help we need somebody..

I feel a song coming on.. We do have a few volunteers who just love helping out at our events - I think if you chat to them it becomes a little addictive. You get to some spectacular places and meet some amazing people. If you fancy a weekend away this summer and can help out on any of the Endurance Series events or the new adidas TERREX event we'd like to hear from you. Contact us here

Volunteers

On a different note, we really could do with a hand or two on the techy front - if you are handy on a computer and like playing in the outdoors we want to hear from you. Its everything from the media stuff we do, to timing, to the latest developments in competitor tracking.

Experience not crucial but if you can't use a mouse probably not the right thing for you. This is not a volunteer role but neither does it attract the kind of money in the world of IT - if money is your motivator, you're probably in the wrong place.

Please please..

oops off again - right that's all folks, hopefully see you at the next Open5.

James Thurlow

PS a few of you have asked us about paying for events using Maestro Cards, we have chatted to Barclaycard and they are in the process of enabling this on our account. Should be sorted in the next 10 days.
