Summer is here!
Well kind of. The Lake District weather is kind of fickle at the moment, but no doubt the sun will shining on May 22nd - the date of the next Open 5 event in the Lake District. Life at Open Adventure has been busy lately planning the Open 24 and the Open 5 events for the rest of the year. We were also at the Outdoors Show at the NEC with Sleepmonsters the Adventure Racing website meeting many of you in the midst of spending money. The event also proved fruitful in providing contacts for sponsors, as arrangements are firmed up we will let you know.
Open 5
Yep the Reeth event surpassed expectations with more people coming along than ever expected. A race report can be found on here on Sleepmonsters. What did catch us out was the snow fortunately it seem to add to the event, at least its one thing we can be confident that won't be around at the next event in the Lakes.

So the next event is in the South Lakes, our back garden so expect some great riding and running - we have managed to get permission to use some tracks rarely used on events so be prepared for an eye popping experience. The event registration is out of Windermere Canoe and Cycle just outside of Bowness, so if you concerned that your stead is not up to the job give Paul Noble a call at 015394 44451 to arrange a hire bike.
22nd May South Lakes - Bowness - Windermere Canoe and Kayak
16th October North Pennines - Blanchland - Village Hall
4th December Central Lakes - TBC

Open 24 - A big day out
What an event this is going to be, entries are coming in and whilst I'm reluctant to drum up an atmosphere of hysteria the total numbers are limited by the number of Open Canoes we can source and around 25% are already taken! If people are not buzzing after this experience then they probably need to see a vet, whilst we will endeavour to take people to their limits of endurance they should be prepared to take in some spectacular views in some amazing parts of the North of England.

Marshalling
Whilst the first Open 5 event was a tremendous success on reflection we were short of one or two marshal's. If you have partners coming along to events or you have yet to enter an event and would like to see what's happening then wing us an e-mail on volunteer(at)openadventure.com We are also looking for people that can help out at the Open 24 event in the summer, if you can put up with some tetchy racers in the early hours of the morning give us a shout.
And Finally ...
Have a good day.
No worries
